Lectors

Parishioners who are high school age or older and have been confirmed may serve as Lectors.  These men and women proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical celebration. Lectors serve at daily and weekend Masses. A lector’s service is based on a schedule that is provided each month.

 

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic ministers are men and women of the parish who have completed the sacrament of initiation and have been commissioned to distribute Holy Communion at Mass. Eucharistic Ministers serve at  weekend Masses and also take the Eucharist to residents of nursing homes and to other homebound parishioners.  Eucharistic Ministers serve based on a schedule that is provided each month.

 

Ministry of Altar Server

Parish children are eligible to serve as Altar Server once they have received the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.   All are required to attend training sessions  after which they are installed in the ministry.  Altar Servers serve based on a schedule that is provided each month. They must be able to serve when scheduled.  Adult Servers are invited to minister at the 9:00 a.m. Weekday Mass.

 

Music Ministry

  •           The Adult Choir leads the singing at assigned 9:30 am Masses at St. Hugh, Carmichaels.

  •           The Jr. Choir sings during the CCD School Year. Schedule announced. Participants are grades 1 - 5. 
  •           The Adult Choir leads the singing at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart, Rices Landing.
  •           The Funeral Choir sings at all funerals held in our Parishes. Rehearsals take place prior to the funeral.  

            

Greeters

Greeters welcome people as they enter the church by extending a spirit of hospitality and welcome to parishioners and visitors alike. They hand out bulletins and the catholic newspaper. Greeters serve based on a schedule that is provided each month.

 

Ushers

Ushers assist priests, deacons, and parishioners at Saturday evening, Sunday, and Holy Day Masses. Ushers are also needed at other liturgical functions such as First Communion, Confirmation, and special parish Masses They seat them when necessary, collect the offertory, bring up the gifts at Mass if a family is not available, direct parishioners for Holy Communion. They also assist anyone who becomes ill or need medical attention.
